John McTernan, Director of Communications for the Prime Minister spoke to the Committee’s new Member Communications Network on Friday 25th May. The event was hosted by Kreab Gavin Anderson at their new offices: thanks to Brian Tyson of KGA for enabling this and for volunteering as a Committee Executive Member to also chair the new Comms Network

Mr McTernan spoke mostly about his experience in Tony Blair’s No.10 where he was a key advisor. He also talked of the general challenges of working in communications in a political environment. The passion and the insight he brought to his presentation was appreciated by an audience with views across the spectrum. John stressed that good policy was central to success however good one’s presentational skills – but it did help to have the latter!

The next meeting of the Committee Communications Network will be in June (tba) .
